Anne Fraser
Lowson Anne Collins, Lady Cullen (formerly Fraser; born 20 July 1951) is a New Zealand former politician of the Labour Party. Early life and family Collins was born in Napier on 20 July 1951, the daughter of Lowson and Brian Collins. She was educated at Napier Girls' High School, and went on to study at Massey University, graduating BEd in 1982. Before entering politics she was a teacher. Parliamentary career In the early 1980s Fraser joined the Labour Party and became a branch secretary in the East Cape electorate. At the snap election she was selected as Labour's candidate for the seat. Her selection, according to the then Whakatane branch chair Margery Rennie, was because "...she's got plenty of guts and was prepared to take on an unpopular candidacy no one else was interested in." University of Toronto Press, 1999.) is a Canadian writer, editor and publishing executive who won the Governor General's Award for English-language non-fiction in 1988. Born in Whitby, Ontario, Collins earned a Bachelor of Arts from York University and has held a wide range of writing and editorial jobs in the Canadian publishing and magazine industry. Anne Collins (29 August 1943 – 15 July 2009) was an English contralto known as versatile operatic singer, praised for her "beautifully warm and wide-ranging timbre, and impeccable diction". Collins began her career at Sadler's Wells Opera, from 1970 to 1976. She debuted at Covent Garden in 1975 as Grimgerde in Wagner's ''Die Walküre''. Collins sang with most of the major British opera companies and at opera houses throughout Europe. She used her early musical training when playing the cello onstage as Lady Jane in Gilbert and Sullivan's ''Patience'' in several English National Opera productions. Ann Collins, also known as Ann Collins Evans (April 29, 1916 – January 6, 1999),"Ann Collins Evans" (obituary notice), ''Pueblo Chieftain'', January 08, 199 was an American artist of thoroughbred racehorses. Personal life Ann Collins was born in Lyons, New York. Her father went to Colorado for his health and worked for a timber operations as an overseer soon after she was born. She lived with her parents, Cornelius and Lisetta, and older sister, Ellen. She grew up in a remote area of Colorado where buffalo ran wild on the 25 mile tract of land. At four years of age was given a pony. She was breaking in colts and riding any horse on the tract by the time she was eight years old. She began drawing ponies as a young girl and at the age of 14 went to school at Mount St. Scholastica Academy, a Benedictine convent in Cañon City, Colorado.
